It all started four years ago in October of 2011 when Brenda Myers, a retired banker, visited relatives and tried a family recipe for peanut brittle for the first time. It was love at first taste, and she just knew she had to make this yummy treat herself!
One year later, in 2012, Brenda brought Squirrel Snax to the Visalia Farmers Market and has wowing and delighting guests to the market with her delicious confectionaries ever since!
Brenda’s motto is: To Surprise and Delight, and everything from her business name and logo to her candies and packaging reflects that mission statement. A good example would be the Christmas candy packs filled with cashew brittle and caramels that market goers purchased. While they only expected her gourmet treats in their usual bags, Brenda decided to arrange the bags to look like santa sleighs, complete with candy cane sleigh runners, and other Christmas embellishments of holly and berries.
Always striving to under-promise and over-deliver, Brenda has garnered quite the local following for her unique creations all inspired from her original family recipe!
While you can find five constant varieties of brittle at Squirrel Snax: Peanut, Pecan, Pistachio, Cashew and Almond, Brenda also changes up her selection for the holidays. Keep an eye out for current seasonal specialties, including Almond Toffee, Peppermint Bark, Peanut Butter Balls and Chocolate Caramels.
One Brenda’s original creations include her line of Central Valley Caramels. These handmade caramels are soft and creamy and come in various flavors. All of Brenda’s creations are available for sampling at the Farmers Markets and yes, Squirrel Snax accepts cash, checks and credit cards!
All of these gourmet treats are available in gift packs for the holiday and for pre-order year round.
