Recipe submitted by Mayme Walker of Dinuba for the 1989 Visalia Farmers Market Harvest Cookbook.
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon shortening
1 1/2 ups kiwi, finely chopped
2 tablespoons sour milk
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
How to Make:
Cream the sugar and shortening, and then stir in the egg.
In a separate bowl, mix the kiwi with the sour milk, and then add to the creamed mixture.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda and then stir into creamed mixture. Add the walnuts and blend well.
Pour into 3x5x2.5 inch pans lined with wax paper, greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes of until done.
